The Quadsport Z-400 uses a proven, twin-cam, four-stroke engine, based on the unit used in the Suzuki DR-Z400, with an emphasis on torque. The QuadSport Z400's 398cc engine delivers a flat torque curve and strong response from 3000rpm to over 8000rpm. The single cylinder is plated with Suzuki's own race-proven nickel-phosphorus-silicon-carbide coating known as SCEM (Suzuki Electrochemical Material), which reduces weight and improves heat transfer. The drivetrain features a wet, multiplate manual clutch and a five-speed transmission with a convenient reverse gear. The QuadSport Z400 is as light as it looks, weighing just 168kg dry. Independent double-wishbone front suspension with pre-load adjustable coil-over shocks delivers 210mm (8.3 inches) of wheel travel. The aluminium-alloy swingarm rear suspension system features a single, fully adjustable piggy-back-reservoir shock allowing 231mm (9.1 inches) of wheel travel. These are mounted to a rigid, high-tensile steel-alloy tube frame and subframe. A tube steel front bumper and a high-impact plastic skid plate are standard equipment. Aluminium alloy wheels are standard front and rear. Dual disc brakes up front and a single disc at rear take care of stopping duties. The LT-Z400 is also equipped with a parking brake.
